Defying the prevailing notion of print’s demise - "PRINT IS DEAD" - the Badlon magazine launch event, designed by GHAITH&JAD, boldly asserts the vitality and relevance of printed media in today’s digital age.
At its core, the event celebrates the tactile and visual appeal of print, accentuated by a design philosophy embracing transparency and archival aesthetics to showcase the magazine’s essence. The magazine is prominently featured, elevated to the status of a coveted artifact, with transparent layers creating a structured display that highlights its old issues. A captivating projection transforms static photos into dynamic, interactive content, capturing visitors' live interactions as they engage with the magazine. Their movements are mirrored in real-time on fish-eye screens for a wider audience to witness. Posters and calendar pages (by Badlon creative director/photographer Stas Kalashnikov) envelop the space, capturing the raw essence of urban life through textures and editorial photographs.
In addition to this, a multitude of art pieces from contributing artists and visual designers are displayed in the space to showcase the fusion of print art and fashion. Not to mention the culinary collaboration between GHAITH&JAD and Micheline Nahra, who crafts a catering experience that echoes the work of the scenographers through food.
The scenography seamlessly merges the physical with the digital realm, mirroring the dynamic evolution of fashion today as it transcends traditional print archiving, reimagining itself in the realm of accessible street announcements and imagery, ultimately emerging in the virtual form of interactive digital broadcasts.
